How to Stop Paying Webflow Per Site and Per Seat

Webflow bills you per site and per seat, and it adds up fast when you run a book of clients. Here is how I got off the per-site treadmill for good.

How to Stop Paying Webflow Per Site and Per Seat

Webflow builds a genuinely nice product. I am not here to dunk on the tool. I am here because if you run an agency on it, you are paying per site and often per seat, and that model quietly taxes the exact thing you are trying to do, which is have more clients.

The per-site treadmill

Every client site that needs to go live needs its own paid site plan. Land ten clients, thats ten recurring site plans. Land fifty, do the math. Your hosting and platform bill grows in a straight line with your client count, forever, and it never gets cheaper per site no matter how good you get at building them.

Then there is the seat side. Bring on a designer or a VA and you may be paying for their access too. So the bill does not just grow with clients, it grows with your team. Both of the things that mean your agency is succeeding are things this pricing charges you extra for.

Any tool that costs you more precisely as you grow is a tool you will eventually want to own instead of rent. The only question is how much you pay before you make the move.

What stopping the per-site fees actually means

The escape is not another platform with a slightly better per-site price. It is owning the thing that builds and hosts the sites, so there is no per-site fee at all, because there is no vendor charging one.

When you own the platform, a new client site is a deploy, not a subscription. You host it on infrastructure you control, you add as many team logins as you want, and the number of sites you run has no line item attached to it. Your cost is a flat platform bill, mine runs about $200 a month on Cloudflare for unlimited sites, and it does not care whether you run five sites or five hundred.

The honest tradeoff

Webflow is faster to start with and there is nothing to run. You open it and build. Owning your platform means you set it up and you are responsible for it, and that is a real trade I am not going to wave away.

But you are comparing a one-time setup against a bill that grows with every client and every hire for as long as you are in business. For a solo freelancer with three sites, the per-site fee might never hurt enough to bother. For an agency adding clients, the treadmill is the whole problem, and stepping off it is worth the setup.

Step off the treadmill

Add up your per-site and per-seat fees, then multiply by the number of clients you plan to have in two years, not the number you have today. Thats the real cost of staying on the treadmill. I put Webflow and the rest in context in WordPress and Webflow alternatives for agencies, and the hosting side is in hosting client sites on Cloudflare Pages.

Stop paying by the site.
